Character development:
Amir goes to Assef's house to get Sohrab and gets into a fight and continues to beat him even after he is badly hurt. Sohrab is scared and stands up to Assef even though he attacked them. Both end up hurt badly. Amir may stand up for Sohrab but it is Sohrab who defeats his attacker.
Human Conditions:
Amir does actually fight for what he believes in , helping Hassan's son get away for his abuser. The only reason Sohrab get free is he stood up to Assef and won. Amir feels a sense of peace at this outcome.
