Amir is still the boy who wont stick up for himself and it happens a lot throughout the novel. He is really jealous of the attention Baba gives Hassan all the time and he wants the attention from Baba. Hassan however will stick up for Amir no matter what , he ends up getting his clef lip fixed which is paid for by Baba ,but he no longer smile come winter. Enough though they don't show it dads still care.
Human Condition:
Having a friend who is able to say the right thing is a certain kind of friend you can trust. When a person hears gunfire their first reaction is to run and fear is pumped into the body because they know death is associated with it. Amir is still battling with himself because he thinks he will never be good enough.
